St Boswells Distillery

A Sustainable Future for Scotch Whisky

Located at Charlesfield Industrial Estate, St Boswells Distillery is an exciting new development by Jackson Distillers, set to become a major contributor to Scotland’s renowned whisky industry. This £46 million project will be the first grain distillery in the Scottish Borders, producing high-quality spirit for Scotch whisky blending, gin, and vodka production.

Sustainable Whisky Production

Sustainability is at the heart of St Boswells Distillery. Using locally sourced cereals from the Tweed Valley and integrating renewable energy solutions, the distillery will operate with a low-carbon footprint, ensuring long-term environmental benefits.

To further support sustainability, spent cereals from the distilling process will be processed at the adjacent anaerobic digestion plant. This system converts waste into renewable energy, with the remaining materials used as a natural soil conditioner, achieving a zero waste-to-landfill commitment.

Economic & Community Impact

The development of St Boswells Distillery will bring significant investment and employment opportunities to the Scottish Borders, including:

  • 200 jobs during the construction phase.
  • 20 permanent roles in the distillery’s operations.
  • Supporting local farmers by creating a stable demand for cereals.
  • Contributing to the growth of the Borders whisky sector and the broader rural economy.

A New Era for Whisky in the Borders

As the first grain distillery in the region, St Boswells Distillery will play a key role in revitalising whisky production in the Scottish Borders. By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainability, Jackson Distillers is ensuring a future that benefits both the industry and the local community.
